GIS
GIS — Gas-Insulated Substations
Transmission networks are evolving into Smart Grids, integrating multiple energy sources, optimising energy efficiency and providing higher reliability. GIS offers solutions for complex environments (populated areas, mountains, small spaces), allowing efficient network operation and downstream fault clearing.
IHPC provides design, engineering and consultancy services in basic, pre-bid and detail engineering, procurement assistance, vendor drawing review, inspection of equipment, and supervision of erection, testing & commissioning for electrical and associated civil works. Gas Insulated Switchgear consumes much smaller space than an outdoor switchyard — all components (CB, isolator, CT, PT, LA, bus bars) are mounted in SF6 gas-filled chambers, giving a compact, low-maintenance design.

We are the CEIG ESA Licence coordinator for obtaining safety approvals for industries, multi-storey buildings, shopping malls, theatres, DG sets etc., across Tamil Nadu.

Electrical Design
Our design engineers work closely with the client to fully understand the application before designing any switchyard or substation. Substations are designed in modular “add as you grow” units; our team works with structural engineers for suitable foundation design and loading calculations, delivering the entire design as one package.
We have acquired state-of-the-art software and in-house tools for substation design, grounding and bus arrangements (radial ring, paired elements, main & transfer, double-bus double-breaker). Statutory Liaison & Harmonics
Liaisoning with C.E.I.G. & C.E.A. for approvals of new installations, additions, modifications, alterations and generators; and liaison with TNEB, PWD, CMDA & TNERC.
We have a dedicated wing for Harmonics — we conduct harmonic studies and design Hybrid Harmonic Filters for installations with non-linear loads above 200 kVA, for power-factor correction and to reduce voltage / current distortion. Electrical maintenance works are undertaken under our sister concern, IHPE.
